Review: An Unbroken Heart

I recently read the book: An Unbroken Heart by Kathleen Fuller. This was the second book in an "Amish of Birch Creek" series. Since I came to understand that this book could be read without reading he first book in the series, I decided to agree to review this book.

I can't be sure whether this would have been a better read had I read book one, but I was not a fan of this book. I've tried to come up with a better way to write this -- a kinder way -- but I just couldn't get into this book much at all.

Most of my issues with the book surrounds the main character -- Johanna. As much as I tried, I could not come to like her character. She just bothered me. She had been in a buggy accident and was in the mist of a long recovery. In the midst of this, she decides to marry her boyfriend. What bothered me is that she can't make a firm decision regarding her boyfriend, and yet, despite the voice allowing us into Johanna's thoughts, it was impossible to understand what she was thinking exactly. I didn't root for her at all. She seemed immature and confusing to me.

I did think that Kathleen Fuller was a good writer. I didn't find any problems with the writing, just with the storyline and the character development. I really wish I would have read the first book first because it got rave reviews.

I received a complimentary copy of An Unbroken Heart from NetGalley and BookLook Bloggers in exchange for an honest review.
